10-Day Morocco Jewish Heritage Tour: Chefchaouen, Fes, Marrakech & Essaouira

Private 10-day Jewish heritage tour: Chefchaouen, the Mellah of Fes, Marrakech and the synagogues of Essaouira.

From the Rif to Mogador: a Jewish heritage journey

This route links four places that shaped Moroccan Jewish history. Chefchaouen was founded in the 15th century by families from Andalusia, Muslims and Jews among them. Fes has the oldest Mellah in the country and the Ibn Danan Synagogue. Marrakech keeps a living synagogue and the largest Jewish cemetery in Morocco. And Essaouira, the old Mogador, was a port where Jewish merchants once formed a large part of the population; its restored synagogues and the Bayt Dakira heritage house tell that story today.
